Satin Finish — Enhance the Natural Beauty
Satin Finish is a unique product designed to enhance the natural look and color of all flamed, sandblasted, split face, tumbled and textured surfaces including limestone, granite, slate, marble, cast and natural stone. When used in conjunction with Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator, Satin Finish seals and protects while leaving a beautiful low maintenance satin sheen. Satin Finish allows vapor transmission while offering a slip resistant, scuff resistant and water resistant surface. Satin Finish is U.V. transparent and non-yellowing. Satin Finish is equally effective in interior and exterior applications. Due to the difference of each material several inconspicuous test patches should be completed to assure maximum performance. User must determine suitability of the product for their intended use.
For best results the surface should be clean, dry and free from frost and dust. Do not apply in extremely cold or hot conditions. Where extra stain protection in not necessary, Satin Finish can be used by itself. To protect against oils and grease, apply Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator as directed. This procedure assures maximum stain prevention.
New Installation - Before Grouting
Apply Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator on all surfaces prior to grouting. This step will allow quick and easy cleanup after grouting. Grout can stain many materials if this procedure is not used prior to grouting. Apply Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator using a clean cotton towel, lambs wool applicator, rayon mop or pneumatic sprayer. Apply enough to wet surface. Be careful not to saturate the open grout joints. Allow Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator to stand for 3 to 5 minutes for maximum penetration. All excess must be removed at this time with a clean dry towel. Allow Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator to cure 24 hours before continuing with the grouting procedure.
New Installation - After Grouting
All excess grout residue/haze must be removed with the appropriate cleaner before continuing. Apply Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator to the grout joints using a paint brush or towel. This procedure will protect the grout joint as well as the surface. Allow treated grout joint to cure for 1-2 hours. Once cured, apply Satin Finish to the entire surface using a clean white towel, natural fiber brush or pump sprayer. If a pump sprayer is used, it should be evened out with a brush before it dries on the surface. Do small areas of 30-60 square feet (3-6 meters) at a time. Do not allow Satin Finish to puddle on the surface. Two or more applications can be applied. Proceed with the subsequent applications after the previous application has dried to the touch (approximately 1-2 hours). Be sure to even out Satin Finish on the surface, blending in overlap marks.
Remove any existing wax, coating or other sealers with Starstrip or appropriate stripper. Clean the surface and grout with Starclean per the instructions. Apply Star Impregnator or Triple Star Impregnator and Satin Finish as previously directed.
Although Satin Finish requires a 24 hour curing time, it will dry to the touch in 1-2 hours and may be used for normal foot traffic. For optimum results, the area should be kept dry and free from staining materials for 72 hours.
Coverage will vary depending on the density, porosity, texture, surface absorption and application methods. Satin Finish will cover approximately 200-800 square feet per gallon (20-80 square meters per 3.785 liters).
Regular maintenance will consist of using Starclean as directed. Re-application of Satin Finish will depend on the amount of foot traffic, abuse and type of material. Satin Finish can easily be removed using Starstrip.
Store Satin Finish in the original container, properly sealed to avoid contamination and solvent evaporation. Stored at 77 degrees F (40C), Satin Finish will have a shelf life of 12 months.
Satin Finish contains combustible petroleum distillates. All solvents must be considered toxic and must be used in well ventilated areas. Good ventilation means that fresh air is flowing in such a way as to feel a slight breeze. Use open windows and fans to move air. Continue to ventilate until vapors are eliminated. Exposure to high vapor concentration must be avoided. Inhaling the vapors can be harmful. Keep away from heat and open flames. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Gloves should be worn at all times. Keep small children and pets out of area until area had thoroughly dried.
